Fargo, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—The Carrington boys wrestling team finished in 5th place overall and had 5 wrestlers finish in the top 5 scoring 96.5 points. The Cardinals will return every scoring wrestler next year. Nick Garber finished his junior year as a state runner-up at 160 pounds. Garber would lead early versus Kash Brown (junior–38-0) building a 4-0 lead before Brown turned things around and scored 14 straight points winning by major decision 14-4. Garber finished the tournament 3-1 and 19-4 overall. Gabe Clifton (152) and Skye Kramlich (121) both finished in 3rd place. Clifton, seeded second, defeated Carson Kozojed from Hillsboro-CV by fall at 3:47 in the consolation semifinals and followed with a fall over top seeded Breyden Buee of Deslacs Burlington at 3:32. Clifton finished his junior year with a 43-13  record. Kramlich, 5 seed at 121 defeated third seeded Pitch Hager of Velva 7-5 in the consolation semifinal and won his third place match over 4th seeded Walker Miller of EEK 5-4. Kramlich defeated Miller in the quarterfinals on Friday 8-4. Kramlich finished his junior year with a 31-7 overall record. Gabe Inglish (107) and Mason Cook (114) both finished in 5th place. Inglish, freshman, went 3-1 on the day and finished his year with a 40-10 record. Inglish defeated Jaden Rude of Kindred in the 5th place match by fall at :48 seconds. Inglish (4 seed) lost his consolation semifinal by medical forfeit after building a 9-3 lead over 3rd seeded Isaac Davidson of Northern Cass. Inglish defeated 8th seeded Carter Wald by technical fall 17-0 and Brycen Hansen of Deslacs Burlington by fall at 3:46 in his first 2 matches of the day. Cook, 8th grader and 6 seed defeated 4th seeded John Loegering of LaMoure-LM by fall with 4 seconds remaining in the match. Cook was trailing 13-5 with under 15 seconds left in the match when he caught Loegering with a throw and the win in the final seconds of the match. Cook went 3-1 overall on the day and finished the season with a 35-13 overall record. Charlie Jorgensen (285-junior) lost in the blood round in SV OT to Hunter Thorvilson of Larimore finishing his season with a 26-15 record. Jaxson Wilson (133-8th grade) also lost in the blood round by a 13-8 decision the 5th seeded Gavin Rude of Kindred. Wilson finished his season with a 31-16 record.

Lisbon won the tournament with 169 points followed by Velva (153.5), South Border (118.5), Oakes (104.5), Carrington (96.5), EEK (84.5), Hettinger-Scranton (78.5), Bowman County-Beach (76), and Williams County and Valley City tied for 9th with 72.5 points.

The Cardinals will compete in the dual tournament on Saturday morning starting at 10:00 A.M. against 4th seeded Hettinger-Scranton. The Cardinals are the 5th seed with Velva seeded 1st, Lisbon 2nd, Kindred third. All Carrington duals will be aired live on AM 1600 KDAK THE CARDINAL, FM 100.1, and at www.newsdakota.com
