
DEVILS LAKE – Jamestown Blue Jays Girls Hockey needed a comeback, achieved it, and still has a chance to be in the state tournament.
Izzy Maddock scored the go-ahead goal with 9:52 remaining Thursday to give Jamestown a 2-1 win over Devils Lake at Burdick Ice Arena. Jamestown (5-14-1-2, 5-14-0-2 League) still has one more chance to make next week’s state tournament.
Brooke Dietrich had brought the Blue Jays into a 1-1 tie at 3:48 of third period with a goal assisted by Leah Hagan.
Julia McIvor broke a scoreless tie for Devils Lake (1-18-0-4, 1-17-0-4) with a shorthanded goal at 5:40 of the second period.
Blue Jays goalie Ady Bakalar made 20 saves. Jamestown had 40 shots to the Firebirds’ 21.
Jamestown now has 17 points. Minot United, who stands in eight place and ended their regular season with a 5-1 loss to Mandan Thursday, has 19 points. The Blue Jays will host Grand Forks on Saturday at 3:00 PM at Wilson Arena. A Jamestown win, either in regulation, overtime, or a shootout, would send the Blue Jays to the state tournament for the first time since 2022.
