
ALBERT LEA, MN – Tournament hockey is usually tight. Jamestown Jimmies ACHA Division 1 Men’s Hockey faced a tight tournament game Friday and won it.
Jamestown held off Midland 2-1 on Friday at the Albert Lea City Arena in the quarterfinal round of the Midwest Collegiate Hockey tournament.
Matthew McIntyre scored the deciding goal, his ninth of the season, at 10:13 of the second period. Carter Johnson and Tyler Lindal had assists.
In the third period, Jamestown had a chance to extend the lead with two power plays, but didn’t score. They also survived Midland playing with a sixth skater for the last 1:49.
Defenseman Malachi Franklin gave the Jimmies a 1-0 lead with his first goal at 6:51 in the first period, set up by Wyatt Johnson and Jordan Baranesky.
Lasse Richert tied the game for Midland at 8:43 of the second period.
Jamestown had 31 shots to Midland’s 21. Jimmies goalie Brandon Weare made 20 saves.
In a semifinal game, UJ will face UMary on Saturday.
