
Jamestown, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The Class B Girls Region 1 Basketball Tournament began on Monday February 23rd at the Jamestown Civic Center. You can catch all of the action on KDDR The Tornado and Thunder 98.3.

Game 1 – D1#1 Maple River 35-49 D2#4 EKM
The 4 seed from District 2 upset the District 2 Champions to start up the Region 1 Tournament with a final score of 49-35. The game started with the Rebels going on an 11-0 run and taking a 13-4 lead through 1 quarter of play. The Raiders would battle back to bring the game back to within single digits before the Rebels once again powered ahead to take a 28-16 lead going into the locker rooms. The Rebels would outscore the Raider 11-4 in the 3rd quarter to continue their lead taking it to 39-20 after 3. The Raiders would try to mount a comeback late but it would be too late as the Rebels would win 49-35.
The Raiders season comes to a shocking close with a 18-5 record. The Rebels will now play on Semifinal Tuesday against the Linton-HMB Lions.
Game 2– D2#2 Linton-HMB 43-31 D1#3 Wyndmere-Lidgerwood
The Lions roared to life in the 2nd half to help propel themselves to a 43-31 victory over the Warbirds to set a semifinal date. The game started out with the Lions jumping out to a 6-0 lead before the Warbirds battled back to take a lead which would trade several times before the end of the quarter when the Lions would take a 11-10 lead. The Lions would once again start out strong in the quarter taking a big lead early before Warbirds battled back once again to make it 22-17 at the half. The Lions would dominate the 3rd quarter taking a 32-23 lead by the end of it before finishing off the game with a 43-31 final.
The Warbirds season comes to a close with a 12-10 record. The Lions will once again play in the semifinals as they take on EKM tomorrow in game 1.
Game 3 – D2#1 (#3) LaMoure-LM 53-20 D1#4 Hankinson
The defending champs continue to defend as they dominated the Pirated by a final score of 53-20. The game started with the Loboes building an early 16-2 lead after 1 quarter of play. They would build that lead to 39-2 with 5 seconds left in the half before the Pirates would make it 39-4 to end the 2nd. The Pirates would begin to put some scoring together in the 3rd quarter as they would make it 48-14 but tit wouldn’t be enough to come back as the Loboes would win 53-20.
The Pirates season comes to a close with a 11-7 record. The Loboes will continue to defend their Region 1 Title in the semifinals against the Bulldogs.
Game 4 – D1#2 Sargent County53-41 D2#3 Kidder County
The Bulldogs played a solid 32 minutes of basketball to get themselves to the semifinals winning 53-41. The game started with a lot of back and forth play between the teams with the Bulldogs leading 10-8 in the 1st. The Wolves would start to slow in the 2nd as the Bulldogs began to pull away to a 20-12 lead. They would dominate in the 3rd getting a 31-18 lead. The Wolves would battle back to bring it back to within 10 but the Bulldogs would pull away again to get the 53-41 win.
The Wolves season ends with a 15-8 record. The Bulldogs advance to the semifinals against the Loboes tomorrow in game 2.
