His senior season was worthy of the acclaim he received.

Jamestown Jimmies senior guard Anthony Walters was named as the NSIC North Men’s Basketball Player of the Year, part of the all-conference selections announced Thursday by the league.

Walters was fifth in conference scoring through Thursday at 19.2 points per game.  He averaged 20.0 points in 22 NSIC games.  Walters hit 78 three-pointers, in the top five in the league, and was sixth in the conference through Thursday in three-point shooting percentage at 41 percent.  He also made 88 percent of his free throws, but did not have enough attempts to qualify to be among the conference leaders.

Walters, a native of Rosedale, New York, within the New York City borough of Queens, scored in double figures in 27 of 28 games this season.  He had 12 games this season of over 20 points and two of 30 points or better.  Three times Walters was named as the NSIC North Player of the Week.

In two years as a Jimmie, Walters scored 937 points (16.7 PPG), 47th in program history.  He scored 1,779 points in four years of college basketball.  Walters’ freshman year was at Queensborough Community College in his hometown, where he was the NJCAA Division III national scoring champion in 2022-23 at nearly 25 points per game.  His sophomore year was at Frank Phillips College in Borger, Texas, where he scored 10.3 per game.
