FARGO – With the season on the line Friday at the NDHSAA boys hockey tournament in Fargo, Jamestown picked up a 6-4 victory over Minot United and advanced to the fifth-place game on Saturday.
Gavin Schafer popped in a pair of goals, his 10th and 11th of the season and Brady Anderson also netted a pair of goals to spark the Blue Jays.
Anderson was bumped to line one center early in period two when Bennett Goehner went down with an injury, and he responded with his ninth and 10th goals of the season.
Ethan Oettle scored his third of the season and assisted on a goal scored by Brady Nenow.
Minot went 3-3 on the power play including a pair of goals by Cole Richeson.
Jamestown outshot Minot United 23-21 with Jays net-minder Leif Hanson stopping 17 shots.
The Jays improve to 16-6-1-2 and will face Century in the consolation title game at noon on Saturday, with coverage starting at 11:40 AM on The Voice of the Blue Jays, Jamestown 107.1.
Minot won the West Region during the season, but went 0-2 at state and end the season at 20-6.
