Jamestown, ND (NewsDakota.com) – Night number one of the District 2 B Boys Basketball Tournament concluded from the Jamestown Civic Center in dramatic fashion.
Game 1: #1 Linton-HMB – 73 vs #9 South Border – 36
The Mustangs kept it close in the first quarter of play, but all Lions after that. Good individual performances from Brody Richter, Isaac Silvernagel, and Justin Bosch propelled the Lions to victory by a running clock wide margin in the second half. Lions will square up against #5 Medina-PB on Monday night.
Cam Kemmet of South Border was their main offensive weapon. Mustangs play in the loser out game against #4 Kidder County at 3:00 Monday afternoon.
Game 2: #4 Kidder County – 41 vs #5 Medina Pingree Buchanan – 61
The 16-3 MPB Thunder found themselves the 5 seed in the District 2 tournament due to some district losses during the regular season. They avenged their regular season loss in the first round of the district tournament with a 61-41 victory over the Kidder County Wolves.
Thunder stretched their 29-20 lead to a 20 point win.
Gage Hoffman (MPB) with 19 points
Grady Larson (Kidder Co) with 13 points
Game 3: #3 EKM – 57 vs #6 Napoleon-GS – 40
Napoleon-GS trailed by just one going into the halftime break, but a few double digits performances for the Rebels of EKM boosted them to victory 57-40.
Double digits scorers for the Rebels were:
Brogan Young
Jaden Brandenberg
Brady Hansen
Drew Nitschke
The lone Imperial in double digits was Jackson Piatz.
Game 4: #3 Ellendale – 54 vs #6 LaMoure-LM – 52
Only one point separated these two teams in the regular season and regulation wasn’t enough to decide a winner in the first round of the District 2 Tournament.
Both teams had free throws to win it near the end of regulation, but all attempts were unsuccessful. Taking us to an overtime where Devin Waldo of Ellendale would seal the deal and bring home a victory for the Carndinals.
Big game Mason Warcken and some clutch 3s to force overtime. But just not enough to seal the deal.
Loboes will face the Imperials Monday night around 4:30. Cardinals get the EKM Rebels.
