MINOT (NewsDakota)- One day after fighting hard against Benson County, the Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier Rebels were not disappointed in their effort on Friday night against Washburn.
They will be, however, frustrated with turnovers and missed shots.
The Rebels shot 2-for-15 with 15 turnovers in the first half and could not overcome it as the Washburn Cardinals advanced to the Class B Consolation Final with a 43-29 win over Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier on Friday night at the MSU Dome.
The Cardinals defense, anchored by 6-foot-3 inch sophomore Kesia Boeshans, made shots very tough in the first half, as only a single field goal each by Alyssa Brummond and Mazie Tjernlund went in and the Rebels trailed 16-10 at the half despite going the last 7:26 of the half without a made field goal.
In the second half, freshman Jenna Syversen delivered the spark off the bench and the Rebels cut a thirteen point lead to 33-27 in the fourth. But Washburn allowed only two more points in the final 6:30 to put the game away.
The Rebels will face the Flasher Bulldogs, who fell to Linton-HMB on Friday night, for seventh place on Saturday with coverage on KDDR The Tornado and Thunder Country 98.3 beginning at 12:45pm
