MINOT (NewsDakota)- There will be a new state champion in class B girls basketball.

The LaMoure/Litchville-Marion Loboes advanced to the first state championship game in program history with a thoroughly dominant 57-29 win over defending champion Benson County on Friday afternoon inside the Minot State University dome.

After a miserable shooting game on Thursday, the Loboes (25-2) began much better, shooting 8-for-16 from the field while holding Benson County (23-3) to 1-for-11 in the opening quarter to take an 18-8 lead.  That lead would be extended to 26-14 at the half as the Loboes were plus-14 on the backboards before halftime.

The third quarter was the knockout punch from the 3-seed as LaMoure-LM allowed only three points in the third to completely blow the game open at 43-17 behind their defense, limiting the Wildcats to 1-for-13 from the field in the third.  The fourth quarter saw reserves play out the final three minutes as the Loboes advanced to play for the first title in program history.

Benson County went without a three (0/11) and the Loboes won the rebounding battle 46-22, including twenty offensive boards.  Norah DeLaBarre had her second consecutive double-double with 18 points and ten rebounds.  Addy Smith added 13 and Julia DeLaBarre pitched in with 10.

The Loboes will play Central McLean for the state championship Saturday night with coverage on KDDR The Tornado & Thunder Country 98.3 beginning at 7:40pm.
