BISMARCK – Jamestown Blue Jays Girls Basketball scrapped again, but this time, it wasn’t enough.

AnnaClaire Bugbee dominated in the post with 22 points and 19 rebounds and Mimi McAllister hit four important second half three-pointers Saturday as Mandan defeated Jamestown 57-44 in a AA West Region girls state qualifier in the Main Arena of the Bismarck Events Center.

Mandan (20-4) built a 15-8 lead through the game’s first nine and a half minutes before a 9-3 run brought Jamestown (12-13) within one point at halftime as the Braves led 18-17.

However, McAllister hit two of her threes in the first five minutes of the half and Bugbee dominated inside for Mandan as the Blue Jays struggled shooting, hitting just 28 percent of their shots for the game.

McAllister scored 13 and Gustavsson scored 11 as Mandan returns to the state tournament for the second straight season.

Macey Neumiller, who scored a career high 31 points Friday in a comeback elimination win over St. Mary’s, added 25 more points on Saturday.  Neumiller hit six three-pointers and ended her freshman season with 57 as she was named all-WDA.

Hannah Attleson had nine rebounds.  She averaged just short of eight rebounds this season and also was named all-WDA.

Jamestown was bidding to make a state tournament for the first time since 2021.
