MINOT (NewsDakota)- An exceptional first season under Kevin Strobel concluded for the Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier Rebels on Saturday, as a difficult second half led to a 40-24 loss to Flasher in the Class B seventh place game.
The Rebels (14-15), who played thirteen games against teams who made state qualifier games or the state tournament, battled through a first half where neither team shot the ball well, except for Alyssa Brummond, who nailed a pair of threes and the game was tied at 13 at halftime.
But in the second half, the Bulldogs (25-4) pulled away, in large part thanks to 24 total Rebel turnovers, and Adison Vetter scored her 1,000th point in the third quarter, which Flasher won 14-8 for a 27-21 lead. But only a Brummond three in the fourth was all the Rebels could muster as the Bulldogs finished with a win.
Jaelyn Bertsch, Elli Lloyd, and Anna Schlect played in their final games for the Rebels, as the trio will graduate in May.
