TITUSVILLE, FL – A break is now ahead for Jamestown Jimmies Softball.  But with how they’re playing, it’s possible that the team might not want it.

Jamestown finished 9-1 in the Space Coast Spring Games and won their seventh and eighth straight games Friday, defeating Ursuline 7-3 and Walsh 4-3 at the USSSA Space Coast Complex.

UJ (19-4) has now won 10 times in their last 11 games.

Jamestown 7, Ursuline 3
Again, Jamestown hit and pitched well, with 11 hits and six good innings in the circle by Abby Blair (6-1).

Trinity Gregg had four hits and three RBI for the Jimmies. Maddie Spaeth had three hits and a RBI to become the sixth UJ softball player to drive in at least 100 career runs.

Spaeth brought in a run with a ground out in the first inning. Gregg socked an RBI single in the third and a two-run single in the fourth and Jamestown led 4-0.

Ursuline scored two in the fifth before Jamestown scored a run in the sixth and two in the seventh on a two-run pinch-single by Sam Vasquez.

Blair yielded two runs (one earned) in six innings on three hits. She struck out two and walked two.

Jamestown 4, Walsh 3
This time, Jamestown had to rally after spotting Walsh a 3-0 lead through two innings.

An error scored the first Jimmie run in the bottom of the fifth.

Then, a three-run sixth inning rally brought UJ into the lead. With one out, Sydney Grendler singled and Kate Geiszler then ran for her. Madelyn Webb cut the Walsh lead to 3-2 with a triple, then scored the tying run on a passed ball. Kylie Yanzuk walked, advanced to second and third on two passed balls, then scored on a sacrifice fly by Natalie Draper.

Aubrey Quern (6-0) pitched three scoreless and perfect innings of relief with four strikeouts to earn the win. Hope Ransome set Walsh down in order in the seventh for her first save.

The rest of the Jimmies’ schedule will consist of NSIC games. Jamestown will play its first two conference games at Minnesota State on Saturday, March 21.
