Valley City, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The Region 1 Boys Basketball Tournament continued on March 10th with the Region 1 Semifinals Games at the Valley City Hi-Liner Activity Center. You can catch all of the action on KDDR The Tornado and Thunder 98.3.

Semifinal 1: Kidder County 37-50 EKM
The Rebels are back to the Region Championship for the first time since 2021 as they beat the Wolves by a score of 50-37. The game started with the Wolves scoring right away then the Rebels going on a 20-0 run as they’d take a 16-2 lead through the 1st quarter and a 20-2 lead early in the 2nd. The Wolves then would go on a 11-0 run to make it 28-16 at the half. The Wolves would bring the game to within 6 points in the 3rd but the Rebels would bounce back out to make it 42-29 through the 3rd. They would keep apace each other in the final frame as the Rebels would bring home the 50-37 victory.
The Wolves will play in the 3rd place game for the chance to play at the SHAC on Last Chance Saturday. The Rebels will play for their first Region title since winning Region 3 in 2021.
Semifinal 2: Linton-HMB 67-75 MPB
The Thunder won a shootout against the Lions to send themselves to the Region Title Game with a 75-67 victory. The game was run-and-gun right away as neither team was really able to pull away but the Lions would hold the 18-15 lead after the 1st quarter. The Thunder would get a little bit of a lead in the 2nd quarter but they wouldn’t hold the multi-score game as it’d be 37-35 at the half. The Lions would then roar back in the 3rd and take a 9 point lead in the quarter but that wouldn’t stick as the score would be 54-48 lead going into the final frame. The Thunder would begin to rumble in the 4th as they would retake the lead and expand it out to double digits late and take home the 75-67 victory.
The Lions will play for 3rd place on Thursday. The Thunder play for the Championship
