JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – 21-year-old Emily Leona Sather is facing charges after she allegedly assaulted a Jamestown Police officer on Wednesday, March 11 at approximately 10:58am.

Jamestown Police Chief Scott Edinger said officers were dispatched to 904 Thomas Ave on a welfare check. The female subject of the call, Emily Leona Sather, is well known to the department. Officers have responded to the location fourteen times since October of 2025. The first responding officer on scene knocked on the apartment door and was met by the subject of the call for service. Without saying a word, the female lunged at the officer and punched them in the face at least two times. After a short struggle the officer was able to draw a Taser, subdue the subject and place her in handcuffs.

He said backup officers from the Jamestown Police Department, Stutsman County Sheriff’s office and North Dakota Highway Patrol assisted at the scene. Sather was transported to the Jamestown Regional Medical Center (JRMC) by Jamestown Area Ambulance and was later transferred to the North Dakota State Hospital. The officer was treated for bruises and cuts at JRMC and has returned to duty.

Edinger said reports are being forwarded to the Stutsman County State’s Attorney for formal charges.
