GRAND FORKS, N.D. (NWS) – A swath of accumulating snow of 2 or more inches as well as gusty winds of at least 50 mph will impact the area Thursday evening into Friday morning. There is a 50 percent chance for blizzard conditions, especially the northern Red River Valley and parts of northwest Minnesota.

Another system moves through the Northern Plains this weekend, bringing accumulating snow. At this time, there is a 30 percent chance for Advisory impacts.

Strongest wind gusts will be from 7pm Thursday to 7am Friday. The highest winds will be mostly displaced from the region of heaviest snow. Track of the system determines where the strongest winds will be (could be more in South Dakota and miss some of our counties north of Interstate 94. Intensity of the system determines our peak winds, potentially up to 65 mph but more likely 55-60 mph.
