
JAMESTOWN, N.D. (JPD) – The Jamestown Police Department (JPD) wants to notify Jamestown residents of new high risk sex offender who is residing within the city of Jamestown.
Police Chief Scott Edinger said Robert Benjamin Bauer has been assigned a High risk assessment by the North Dakota risk level committee, Office of the Attorney General.
Offense: Coercion & Enticement – When Bauer was 25 years old, he corresponded via Facebook with who he believed was a 13-year-old female. Bauer told her they could have sex if she wanted. He agreed to purchase condoms, synthetic marijuana, and alcohol. Bauer arranged to meet at the YMCA and was arrested after attempting to flee.
Conviction Date: 3/22/2013 in U.S. Federal Court.
Bauer is not wanted by police at this time and has served the sentence imposed by the court. This notification is meant for public safety and not to increase fear in the community, nor should this information be used to threaten, assault, or intimidate the offender. Attempts to harass, intimidate or threaten these offenders or their families, landlords, or employers will be turned over for prosecution.
