VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Valley City Police Department has recently been made aware of a text message scam circulating in our area. Residents have reported receiving text messages claiming to be from the North Dakota DMV with an “Enforcement Notice” stating the recipient has an outstanding citation. The message typically includes a link directing the recipient to pay the citation and warns that failure to pay could result in suspension of the recipient’s vehicle registration and driver’s license. These messages are a scam.
Please keep the following in mind:
• The North Dakota DMV does not send enforcement notices or citation payments through unsolicited text messages.
• Do not click the link provided in the message.
• Do not provide personal or financial information through links sent via text.
• If you receive this message, delete it and block the sender.
