Minot, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The MPB Thunder are onto the semifinals for the first time ever as they beat the Midway-Minto Mustangs by a final score of 74-62.

The game started out poorly for the Thunder as the Mustangs jumped to an early lead that they would hold with an iron grip through the 1st quarter. The Thunder would struggle with turnovers and shooting in the early goings as the Mustangs would use both Elijah and Ezra Robinson to carve through the MPB defenders and take a 24-19 lead. The Thunder however would lock in going into the 2nd quarter as they would start out rebounding the Mustangs and start to hit their shots while the Mustangs would go cold shooting. MPB would take the lead at 39-36 going into the half.

The Thunder then came out and built on that lead inspite of the mass amount of turnovers they would build the lead to 44-36 after the 3rd quarter as Midway-Minto would only get 3 field goals in the 3rd. Gage Hoffman and Trevin Behm were on fire in the 4th quarter with Behm scoring 10 points in the quarter and Hoffman being a monster on the glass both offensively and defensively racking up 31 points and 20 rebounds. The Thunder would take the victory at 74-62.

The Thunder will now play the Central McLean Cougars at 2:45 in the semifinals on Friday March 20th. You can catch all of the action on Thunder 98.3.
