VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Local citizens concerned about preserving democracy in this turbulent time will make their voices heard at a protest rally in Valley City on March 28. People wanting to participate should gather at Veterans Memorial Park, at the corner of Main Street and Central Avenue, at 12:00 noon. The rally will continue until 12:30 pm.
The peaceful protest will be one of hundreds of similar “No Kings 3” events scheduled nationwide on March 28.
“What began in 2025 as a single day of protest has become a sustained national resistance to tyranny, spreading across every community determined to defend democracy,” said event coordinators Angie Martin and Arlene Andrus, both of Valley City. Peaceful protest is the historical foundation of American democracy, they added.
“These protests rise at a pivotal moment, in response to ongoing attacks on the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, immigrant communities, and the rule of law itself,” Andrus said. “Participants on March 28 will likely share messages specifically in opposition to: aggressive action by masked ICE agents; reckless, illegal military operations; creation of huge prison camps on American soil; and laws that establish unnecessary barriers to voting,” she added.
“All No Kings events are committed to nonviolence. No weapons are allowed, and participants must seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who may disagree,” Martin stressed.
About 150 people participated in Valley City’s “No Kings 2” protest last October. “We’re hoping to increase that number to at least 200 on March 28!” Martin added.
