
BISMARCK, N.D. (VCSU Sports Information) – The Valley City State Men and Women were in Bismarck for the Marauder Outdoor Open. The Vikings had five firsts and eleven top three finishes along with several personal bests.
As a team, the Viking Men were fourth and the Women were fourth as well.
For the Men, Jordan Mount had a solid meet, taking first in the Long Jump with a jump of 6.67m, he was third in the 200 Meters and had a personal best in the 100 Meters.
Zeke Barnick took first in the high jump with a jump of 1.88m which is 0.03 meters off his personal best.
Joel Nelson had three personal bests and a third-place finish. He took third in the High Jump and had personal bests in the Shot Put and Javelin.
Jeffrey Rosinski and Porter Granger each had personal bests in the 200 Meters and the Long Jump.
Cody Frounfelter took third in the Hammer Throw. Nevin Daley had personal bests in three events: the Shot Put, the Discus, and the Hammer. Arie Bratrud had personal bests in the Shot Put, Kyle Cotton had personal bests in the Javelin and the Hammer. Zac Kuznia had a personal best in the Hammer.
On the Women’s side, Frida Barrera took first in the 800 Meters with a personal best time if 2:23.22 and the 1500 Meters with a personal best time of 5:00.50. Both are top three in school history.
Grace Backstrom also took first in the High Jump with a personal best 1.52m. She also had a personal best in the 400m Hurdles.
Jonica Taylor was third in the 400 Meters with personal best time of 1:06.21. She also had a personal best in the 200 Meters. Ava Krier had personal bests in the 100 and 200 Meters.
Backstrom, Taylor, Barrera, and Cassidy Shute took second in the 4×400 relay.
The distance runners had a good day with several personal bests. Cassidy Shute was second in the 800 Meters with a personal best; Billie Maye Pohlkamp was third in the 800 with a personal best and she ran a personal best in the 1500 Meters. Paiton Flick had personal bests in the 800 and 1500 Meters.
Caitlin Armbrust had a personal best in the Triple Jump.
The throwers had a great day. Greta McKenney had personal bests in the Shot Put, Hammer, Javelin, and Discus. Kiana Hilary had personal bests in the Shot Put, Hammer, and Discus. Rylan Parsley had personal best in the Shot Put and Hammer. And Carlee Fuchs had a personal best in the Hammer.
The Women took fourth in the meet overall.
