JAMESTOWN, N.D. (UJ Collegian) – The Harold Newman Arena was transformed into a scene straight out of Monte Carlo this past Friday, March 20th, as the Student Engagement Team (SET) hosted its 6th Annual Casino Night.
University of Jamestown students traded their backpacks for ballgowns and blazers, following a formal dress code that set a classy tone for the evening. To maintain the high-energy atmosphere, the SET implemented a strict no-re-entry policy, ensuring that the excitement remained centered within the venue from the moment VIP doors opened at 7:30 PM until the final dance at midnight. The scale of the event was large, featuring an impressive layout of 21 active game tables spread across the floor. Attendees tested their luck at blackjack, roulette, poker, and bingo, all while using “imaginary” currency provided at registration. To ensure every student had a fair shot at the action, game tables were cleared every 20 minutes, allowing for maximum participation. While no real money was exchanged for gaming, the stakes felt incredibly high as students gambled to accumulate chips to trade for prize tickets at a rate of $1,000 in chips per ticket. “It’s about the experience,” said one student as they cashed out their chips for tickets. “Even if you don’t win the 50-inch TV, the photo booth and the live DJ make it the best night of the semester.”
Catering for the evening was a coordinated effort between several local favorites. Milk Made provided an amazing charcuterie-style grazing table that remained available throughout the night, while two mocktail bars kept the crowd refreshed. At 10:30 PM, the energy received a boost from a massive delivery of Pizza Ranch pizza, which included gluten-free and cheese-only options to accommodate dietary needs and those observing Lent. VIP guests received an extra touch of luxury with specialized desserts provided by The Grateful Plate, making the exclusive registration area a popular destination.
The tension peaked as prize drawings began at 10:00 PM, with winning numbers flashed across the lobby video board. The haul was legendary, featuring items like an Apple Watch 11, AirPods Pro, and a 50-inch TV, alongside unique experiences such as a Tigirlily Gold Concert package. VIP students were also eligible for a dedicated cash prize drawing at 11:00 PM. As the live DJ played the final set and the last prizes were claimed by those present, the 6th Annual Casino
Night officially went into the books as a massive success for the Student Engagement Team and the entire University of Jamestown community.
