Four area players are included on the North Dakota Associated Press Sportscasters & Sportswriters Association Class B All-State basketball teams, released Tuesday.

Taylor Zimmerman of Kidder County and Addison Smith of LaMoure-Litchville/Marion both are second-team girls all-state players.

Zimmerman, a senior guard, averaged 12.7 points and 4.2 steals for the Wolves as they made the Region 1B tournament.  She finished her Kidder County career with 1,410 points.

Smith, a junior, helped the Loboes to their first state championship and surpassed the 1,000-point mark for her career at LLM.

Oakes’ Beau Thorpe and Easton Simon of New Rockford-Sheyenne both made the boys’ second team.

Thorpe, a junior, was in the top five in Class B boys scoring at over 25 points per game.  He also hit nearly 41 percent of his three-pointers for the Tornadoes and averaged over five rebounds and two assists a game.

Simon, a senior for the Rockets, was named the Region 2 Senior Athlete of the Year.  Simon averaged 23 points a game, over four assists and over two steals per outing.
