Lourdes (Ludy) S. Bockness, a beloved pillar of her family and a woman of profound kindness, passed away peacefully while sleeping on the early morning of February 26, 2026. Her funeral service will be 10:30 am Saturday, April 11, at Traditions Funeral Services, Oliver-Nathan, Valley City, ND. Burial will be at Sheyenne Valley City, rural Valley City.

Ludy was born December 23, 1943, in Apalit, Pampanga, Philippines. The daughter of Benigno Salazar and Doria Safigil. Ludy lived a life defined by her devotion to her family and her unwavering spirit. She was the cherished matriarch whose warmth and wisdom guided generations.

Ludy was known for her green thumb, her amazing culinary skills, and her love for her kitties throughout the years. She worked for many years at the Pizza Corner Pizza factory and restaurant in Valley City where she was highly regarded for her speed and efficiency as a pizza maker. Her home was a sanctuary of hospitality, where the coffee was always hot and the door was always open. She found her greatest joy in the simple moments: a shared meal, the laughter of her grandchildren, and the enduring bond she shared with her partner of 24 years, Duane (Dewey) Tenpas.

She is survived by her devoted family, including her sons, Joseph (Jenifer) Bockness and Shawn (Andrea) Bockness; her grandchildren, Trevor Joseph, Trevor, Payton, Haiden (Chris) Eaton, Justin, Derek, Kamren, Chloe, Max, Noelle, Elena and Ellis Bockness; and a wide circle of extended family and dear friends who were touched by her grace. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Duane Bockness.

Ludy leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and the quiet strength that comes from a life well-lived. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered in the stories told by those who loved her.
