JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NDFU) – North Dakota Farmers Union opens its 92nd season of youth summer camps in June for kids who have completed grades 3-6 and 7-12.
The program annually draws more than 1,100 farm and city kids from across the state to the shores of Lake Tschida near Elgin and the Jamestown Reservoir, where camp facilities are located.
“‘Rooted in adventure’ is our camp theme this year,” said NDFU Education Director Miranda Letherman. “There’s always an element of adventure and fun at Farmers Union Camp, and we hope more kids will experience it this summer.” Sixteen separate four- and five-day camps are slated from June to August.
Team building exercises, leadership skill development and cooperative learning are core camp objectives, noted Letherman. “We also offer everything from theme nights to lake time, dances, skill-building activities and more. There’s something for everyone.”
Discounts are being offered to those who register before May 15. Farmers Union also provides scholarships for kids needing financial assistance to attend. Free motor coach transportation to and from camp facilities is also offered.
