VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – What brings you joy? Whether it’s cozying up with a new story, learning a new skill, gathering with community or something else, you can find your joy at the Valley City Barnes County Public Library.

National Library Week, April 19–25, 2026, is a time to celebrate the many ways libraries bring people together, spark imagination, and support lifelong learning. From books and digital resources to creative programming, libraries are essential to thriving communities.

This year’s theme is “Find Your Joy” and at VCBC Public Library, we invite everyone to join the celebration! Whether you're a long-time patron, a new neighbor, or haven’t visited in a while, now is the perfect time to explore all the library has to offer. Our library provides print resources of multiple genres and a wide variety of viewpoints, access to thousands of digital resources, DVDs, craft kits, games, programming opportunities for all ages, free Wi-Fi, author visits, Summer Learning programs, access to
technology, and a wonderful space to connect with others, ensuring that everyone has access to resources that educate, inspire, and connect.

Whatever brings you joy, the library has something for everyone. Whether you’re preparing for a career change, launching a business, raising a family, or embracing retirement, VCBC Public Library is here to support your journey. Libraries serve as hubs for learning, creativity, and connection, helping people of all ages explore new ideas and opportunities.

Join us and celebrate these special days during National Library Week: Right to Read Day – Monday, April 20, a day for readers, advocates, and library lovers to take
action to protect, defend, and celebrate the right to read. National Library Workers Day – Tuesday, April 21, a day for library staff, users, administrators, and Friends groups to recognize the valuable contributions made by all library workers.
