Jamestown Blue Jays Track & Field had a generally good weekend, with the boys winning the Ellendale Quarterback Club Invitational and the girls finishing second.  Also, JHS had place-winners at the prestigious Howard Wood Relays.

Jamestown’s boys won easily with 194 points, 95 better than Ellendale.

Aiden Skari led the Blue Jays with wins in the 100 meters (12.02), the 200 meters (23.56) and the triple jump (41 feet, 11 inches). Grady Eckart, for the third straight meet, won both hurdles races, taking the 110 meters in 18.04 and the 300 meters in 46.51. Peacemaker Tukumunde won the long jump, clearing 18 feet, eight inches. Jamestown also had two relay wins. The 4×400 team of Easton Landscoat, Robert Mehr, Casey Metzger and Eckart ran in 3:56.52. Mehr, Jaydyn Velek, Leif Hanson and Nolan Keys won the 4×800 in 9:49.52.

JHS’ girls had a second-place finish with 129 points, four behind winner South Border.

Layna Hoffer and Hayden Olson won two events each. Hoffer took the 300 meter hurdles in 50.11 seconds and the high jump, clearing five feet, five inches. Olson won the long jump (15 feet, 10 1/2 inches) and the triple jump (35 feet, 3 inches).

At Sioux Falls, South Dakota, thrower Cody Berreth and two relay teams had top-eight finishes.

Berreth was fifth in the shot put. Two relay teams placed eighth: Ryker Stoddart, Heath Heupel, Jared Sagaser and Gradin Thorlakson in the 4×400 and Sagaser, CeCe Romsdal, Heupel and Claire Marker in the mixed 4×400.
