
DULUTH, MN – Both Jamestown Jimmies track & field teams were ninth in their first NSIC Championships, which concluded Saturday at Minnesota Duluth’s Malosky Stadium.
Lydia Franson earned a win for the Jimmie women, taking the 1500 meters in 4:40.43, a personal best time. Franson also earned all-conference honors, which go to the top three finishers in each event, in the 3000 meter steeplechase. Franson was second in 10:52.04. Also all-conference is Cambrie Fischer, who was third in the javelin at 40.69 m (133 feet, 6 inches).
UJ scored 35 points as a team. Minnesota State edged UMary by six points for the women’s team title.
Gunner Majerus made all-conference for the Jimmie men with a third place finish in the javelin. Majerus threw 53.16m (174 feet, 5 inches).
Jamestown’s 4×100 meter relay team also made all-conference with a third place run. Avery Ligon, Xander Rath, Tristan Huse and Jordan Kellogg-Schmidt ran in 41.48 seconds.
The Jimmies’ men totaled 24 points. Minnesota State won the team title with 235 points, 133 1/2 more than Northern State.
