JAMESTOWN, N.D. (On World Wish Day®, April 29, 2026) Jamestown resident Jax Wegleitner learned that his wish to go to Walt Disney World® Resort will be coming true this month. He and his family will enjoy six days in Orlando, FL, soaking up the sun both at the theme park and while staying at Give Kids the World Village®, which specifically hosts children like Jax who have critical illnesses.
A happy, smiling child, Jax loves swinging, music, being outside, and playing with his family. One thing that makes him the happiest is watching Disney movies each morning. His local volunteer wish granters, Kelli Just and Vickie Steckler, learned that a trip to Walt Disney World® Resort and Give Kids the World Village® would be a dream-come-true for Jax because he loves all things Disney, movement, music, water, ice cream (one of the few treats he can have via his G-tube), and being with family.
Jax has faced a complicated medical journey in his young life. He had a kidney transplant at age one and was later diagnosed with cancer in his transplanted kidney. He has dealt with kidney failure, pancreatitis, kidney biopsies, and various heart conditions. Jax is also G-tube dependent for eating and communicates via sign language.
“Every eligible child like Jax deserves the boost of hope, strength, and joy that only a wish provides,” said Billi Jo Zieliski, President and CEO of Make-A-Wish North Dakota. “We hope he makes life-long memories on his adventure to Florida, allowing his whole family time to focus on each other, rather than the daily hurdles that come from a critical illness.”
Several Jamestown community partners were key in helping make Jax’s wish reveal a special day, including the Anne Carlsen Center, where he goes to school, and Dr. Myra Quanrud, Jax’s pediatrician. His big day was further boosted by Dakota Inflatable Games, Dollar General, The Story Nook, Dairy Queen, Hugo’s, and 701 Print & Design Co, all of Jamestown.
