BISMARCK – Jamestown Track & Field had a place winner and established a relay finalist in the first day of state track.

As the NDHSAA Track & Field Championships began Thursday at the MDU Resources Community Bowl, the Blue Jays’ Cody Berreth finished third in the boys shot put and Jamestown’s boys 4×200 relay team qualified for the final.

Berreth threw a personal best 56 feet, 6 inches for his third-place finish.

JHS’ boys 4×200 relay team had the fourth best time in the preliminaries at 1:29.75 by Ryker Stoddart, Jared Sagaser, Gradin Thorlakson and Aiden Skari.  The final will take place on Saturday.
