(NewsDakota.com) After almost a week off, the Oakes High School basketball teams and wrestling team are back at it this weekend.
The girls basketball team plays at home on Friday night against Wyndmere/Lidgerwood. The Tornadoes are currently third in District 1 play. After the contest, the girls will regroup and battle Litchville-Marion-Montpeiler on Saturday afternoon.
The boys basketball team heads north and west Friday night to play against Central Prairie in Gackle. The Tornadoes district season has come to an end, and they finished with an 0-7 record in district play. On Saturday, the boys go to the North Dakota State College Of Science to play Kindred.
The wrestling team heads west to Ashley on Saturday to compete in the Region I Duel Tournament. Oakes is the #1 seed, having not lost a duel this season to a Region I opponent. The opening round for the Tornadoes is against the #8 seed, Ellendale/Edgeley/Kulm.
Coverage on KDDR-AM 1220 and NewsDakota.com Friday night will have the girls game starting at 7:15, with tip around 7:30, and on Saturday, it’s all wrestling, starting at 9:45 a.m.
