N.D. (AP) – Supporters of a campaign to restore the
University of North Dakota’s retired Fighting Sioux nickname are
making their final push to get enough signatures on a petition to
force a statewide vote on the matter. Petitions are due at the
secretary of state’s office in Bismarck by tomorrow at midnight.
JAMESTOWN, N.D. (AP) – A man wanted by authorities in at least
five states is serving a year and a day in the North Dakota
Penitentiary. Thirty-year-old Jeremy Blum was arrested last
November after a car chase and standoff with police in Jamestown.
He’ll likely be transferred to South Dakota after he serves his
North Dakota prison time.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Theater students at Horizon Middle School
are donating ticket sales from the final performances of “Squad
Room” to the memorial fund of a slain police sergeant. Steve
Kenner was killed in July while responding to a domestic
disturbance call. He’s survived by his wife Deb and their four
children.
WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) – Wheat will be the subject of a convention
that kicks off today in Williston. The 59th National Hard Spring
Wheat Show is runs through Wednesday.
