N.D. (JimmieAthletics.com) – After opening the 2017 season with a home game against Hastings (Neb.), the Jimmie football team will host the University of Saint Francis (Ind.), winners of the 2016 national championship, the following weekend.
The Cougars, who defeated Baker (Kan.) 38-17 for the 2016 NAIA National Championship in December, will take on the Jimmies September 2 in a noon kickoff. This will be the first meeting between the teams.
Hastings will come to Jamestown on Saturday, August 26 to open the season. It will be the last non-conference meeting between the Jimmies and Broncos before UJ joins the GPAC in 2018.
The 2017 schedule features a slate of 11 games, just three of which will be non-conference games. Jamestown will play eight conference games, including two each with Waldorf (Iowa) and Valley City State (N.D.). A new conference rule for 2017 allows both meeting to count in conference play.
UJ hosts back-to-back home games on September 23 and 30, welcoming Waldorf and Dakota State (S.D.). Dickinson State (N.D.) comes to Jamestown on October 21, and the final home game of the season is November 4 against Valley City State (N.D.).
Road games for the Jimmies include September 9 at Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.), September 16 at Valley City State, October 14 at Presentation (S.D.), October 28 at Mayville State (N.D.), and November 11 at Waldorf.
Jamestown finished 4-7 overall and 3-3 in North Star Athletic Association play in 2016 under first-year head coach Josh Kittell.
