N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – On April 29th, ready squad firefighters were called to the Fairfield Inn & Suites in Jamestown for a possible chlorine problem.
According to the latest report from Jamestown Fire Chief Jim Reuther, firefighters responded at 11 Am and checked the pool area for the chlorine levels and none was detected.
“[The] potential cause was most likely that muriatic acid was introduced, which gave off a strong odor,” Chief Reuther says in his calls for service.
Six individuals needed to be taken to the Jamestown Regional Medical Center to be checked for breathing problems.
Fairfield employees report that Ecolab is currently investigating the cause. No other information is available at this time.
**Story has been corrected. Originally reported as the primary cause, Chief Reuther says that muriatic acid is the “possible” cause of the incident.
