N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Recall of the LaMoure County State’s Attorney has fallen short.
Due to incomplete addresses on petitions, LaMoure County State’s Attorney Tonya Duffy will retain her position. A group of citizens calling themselves the Committee to Recall State’s Attorney Tonya Duffy had collected around 613 signatures, which were turned in on June 20th.
170 of those signatures were rejected due to incomplete addresses, making the petition 98 signatures short for a recall election.
The reason for the recall was stated as Duffy “lacking the competency and demeanor to hold the office and neglecting to properly perform the duties of the county’s prosecuting attorney.”
