FORKS, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Winter is officially striking on the eve of the winter solstice in North Dakota

National Weather Service meteorologist Bill Barrett says a heavier band of snow of 6 to 8 inches is possible in a line from Devils Lake, ND thru Bemidji, MN with lesser amounts further south toward the South Dakota border.

The National Weather Service says portions of northwest and north central North Dakota could see 5 to 8 inches of snow.

A bitterly cold arctic air mass is expected to hit the region Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. High’s zero to single digits above or below zero, with lows in the teens to 20’s below zero.
