CITY (NewsDakota.com) Valley City officials decided to split the 9th Avenue Northwest paving improvement project into two phases due to the uncertainty in the passage of the federal highway funding bill in Congress.
City engineer Chad Petersen told the board of commissioners during a special meeting on April 6 that the next possible bid opening date has been pushed back from April to June 15th due to the delay in the federal highway bill.
City commissioners chose the option of working on the first phase north from Pioneer Park to 12th street northwest and to pursue the second phase from Pioneer Park to Main street in 2013.
The Valley City board of commissioners voted unanimously to split the reconstruction project into two phases on Friday, April 6.
