NEW ROCKFORD, N.D.  (NewsDakota.com)  The Cardinals High School Baseball team played and completed three Region III games on Friday in New Rockford.  The Cardinals win all three and improve to 4-0 in region play and 4-3 overall.  A total of five games took place in New Rockford, here are the results:

Carrington 10 Midkota/Lakota/Dakota Priarie/ Griggs County Central 0, 10-run, 5 innings

Kyle Leapaldt picked up the victory of the mound, working five innings, allowing only three hits, four strikeouts and two walks.  Starting pitcher Jake Avdem and reliever Tyler Loe combined for 10 walks.  Avdem worked two and one-third inning and suffered the loss, Loe pitched an inning and two-thirds. At the plate for Carrington, Jayden Shipman was 2-for-3 with two singles, an RBI and scored a run.  The Mustangs had three hits, all singles from Hunter Sand, Isaac Smith and Dayton Miles.

Midkota/Lak./DP/GCC 11 Kidder County 1, 6 innings, 10-run

Carrington 21 Medina/Pingree/Buchanan 2, 5 innings, 10-run

The Cardinals send 15 batters to the plate in the top of the first and 12 batters to the plate in the top of second, score 17 runs in those two innings combined and go on to win over the Thunder in the fourth game of the day.  Garrett Bickett was the winning pitcher, Preston Martin suffered the loss.

Carrington 12 Sheyenne/New Rockford 2, 6 innings, 10-run

Senior Jayden Shipman picks up the victory on the mound, working all six innings, allowing just two runs and two hits, nine strikeouts, four walks and one hit batter.  Teddy Allmaras was the losing pitcher, working five innings, Nathan Holzwarth worked an inning in relief.
