CITY (NewsDakota.com) With the current school year nearing a close the Valley City school board unanimously approved of next years school calendar. Students will start the new school year on Monday, August 27 and end the year on May, 23 in the spring of 2013.
Superintendent Dean Koppelman says the new calendar includes 3 storm days. He says if more than 3 are needed the school district will make up those days by scheduling school on Saturday’s instead of asking the state for forgiveness like they did in 2009.
In other news, the school board approved of nearly $155-thousand dollars for school district summer maintenance projects. The lions share includes some $102, 100 dollars for several projects at the junior/senior High School, $20, 445 dollars for heating & cooling unit upgrades at the Sheyenne Valley Career & Technology Center and $19,500 dollars for various projects at Jefferson Elementary school.
