JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown scored 10 runs in the fourth inning and Aaron Kleven breezed through the Washburn lineup as Post 14 picked up a 17-0, 5-inning win over Post 12 in the final game of day one at the Southwest Divisional American Legion Baseball Tournament Thursday night in at Jack Brown Stadium.
Jamestown sent 15 batters to the plate, had eight hits and were aided by three Washburn errors in the big inning. Drew Murray and Kohl Kratz drove in two runs each in the inning.
All nine starters had at least one hit. Kratz had four of the 18 hits for Post 14. Dawson Douty, Ryder Lunzman, Tommy Falk, Max Anderson, Isaac Mimong and Jeremy Williams had two hits each. Kratz, Williams, and Chris Erickson all scored three times.
Kleven allowed two hits, both in the fourth inning. He walked one and struck out nine.
Jamestown is now 14-10 on the year and will face the Bismarck Reps Friday at 3:30 in a winners bracket game with a berth into next weekend’s Class A State Tournament in Williston at stake. That game will be on 1400 ESPN/ 107.1 and NewsDakota.com. Pregame at 3:15pm
Washburn will play at 6pm in an elimination game. Their opponent will be determined at 1pm when Mandan will play the Bismarck Caps.
