VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- The Hi-Liner Hall of Fame committee is pleased to announce the induction class for 2018. This group of five individuals along with one team will be recognized during the VCHS homecoming parade and the homecoming football game on Friday September 21st, 2018.
Ace Anderson
Class of 1998
Ace competed in football, golf, track and wrestling in his high school days, but he excelled as a wrestler for the Hi-Liners. Ace was a 4-time EDC champion, 4-time state finalist, 2-time high school All-American, and 2-time ND class A state wrestling champion. Ace went undefeated as a junior taking the 140# championship his junior year, and followed that up with another undefeated state championship at 145#. Ace finished his career with a 142-21 career record and has the highest career winning percentage in school history at 87%.

2001 Boys Cross Country Team
State Champions Fall of 2001
After placing 3rd in the EDC Regional meet, the Hi-Liner boys’ cross country team traveled to Minot on October 27th 2001 to complete in the State “A” cross country meet. This group of young men led by hall of fame coach Bill Jansen would take home the state championship with a team score of 64. The team was led by state champion Chad Bergan, and all-state placers Tyler Gortmaker (7th), Kevin Dahlberg (13th), and Ryan Egeberg (16th). Other members of the team include Charley Senne (27th), Scott Egeberg (43rd), Russell Nelson (51st), Nic Nelson (99th), Justin Foell (120th), and Brian Zubrod (128th).

Shauna (Differding) Lonski
Class of 2001
Shauna was active in tennis, volleyball, and basketball at VCHS, but it was on the tennis court where she achieved the most success. Shauna was named all-state in tennis four times as a part of doubles teams 1998, 1999, and 2001, as well as a 4th place finish individually in 2000. Shauna was also a three-time team MVP on the Hi-Liner girls’ tennis squad. Upon graduation from VCHS, Shauna competed in tennis at UND where she lettered all 4 years, and was a member of two NCC championship teams in 2003 and 2004. Shauna was also the NCC champion at number 6 singles in 2003.

Tyler Stoltz
Class of 2002
Tyler competed in both track and basketball in his days at VCHS, but track was by far his specialty. Tyler was a 4-time state champion in track. At the state track meet as a junior in 2001, Tyler won the long jump with a leap of 23’3.75” which still ranks as the 9th best long jump in state history. During his senior campaign, Tyler took home the state title in the long jump, high jump, and javelin. With this impressive showing, Tyler was named the ND High School Track Athlete of the Year for 2002. Tyler still holds the Hi-Liner school records for high jump, 6’7” in 2002, and javelin, 193’10” in 2002. Following graduation from VCHS, Tyler went on to compete in both indoor and outdoor track and field at UND.

Chad Bergan
Class of 2003
Chad participated in track, cross country, and basketball in his time as a Hi-Liner. Chad was a standout runner for Bill Jansen in both cross country and track. In cross country Chad was a 3-time all EDC and all state performer. He was a two-time individual state champion in 2001 and 2002, and a member of the state championship boys’ cross country team in 2001. In 2002, he was named ND State Cross Country Athlete of the year, and still holds many school records to this day. In track, Chad placed 3rd in both the 1600m and 3200m as a junior in 2002 at the state track meet, and was the 2003 1600m champion. Chad went on to letter 4 years in both indoor/outdoor track and cross country at NDSU.

Evan Knodle
Class of 2003
Evan was active in both tennis and wrestling in his time at VCHS, and was a varsity starter in tennis for 6 years and wrestling for 5 years. On the court Evan participated in 6 state tennis tournaments, was a varsity starter on the 3rd place team as a 7th grader, a part of 3 doubles teams that place 3rd in state as a freshmen, sophomore, and junior. As a senior, Evan placed 6th individually at state and was named ND Outstanding Senior Athlete (Mr. Tennis) in 2003. On the mat Evan was a 4-time state qualifier and placed 6th in 2002 at 140#, and 6th in 2003 at 145#.
