JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Community Foundation was developed more than 30 years ago to help worthy causes within the community.
“Often times when significant development takes place in a community, it is the direct result of the vision of a person or a group of people, a vision to make the community an improved place, to create something of lasting value, to invest in a legacy for others to enjoy for years to come,” the foundation states.
“It is for this reason that the Jamestown Community Foundation was created in 1983 through the Jamestown Chamber of Commerce.”
Foundation member Barb Lang says the non-profit continue to invest to different, small organizations. She says rather than creating their own foundation or working towards their own 501(C)3 status, the foundation helps the community develop a unified vision.
The grant application is available online and the board considers them twice a year.
The Jamestown Community Foundation has granted funds to organizations including the Jamestown Arts Center, Daily Bread Program, Humane Society, Senior Citizens, Firefighters, Marketplace for Kids, Jamestown HOPE Manor Sober Living, and more.
Lang pointed out that they are currently in the midst of their annual fund drive and are seeking any donations to help contribute to their program.
Lang says those seeking foundation funds are encouraged to visit their website jamestowncommunityfoundation.com.
