(NewsDakota.com)- Post 14 returned to action on Friday night during their own invitational and won all five of the games they played in.
Jamestown opened the tournament with an 8-0 win over Groton, SD. Kasey Gengler went the distance allowing just two hits over seven shutout innings.
They matched up with Beulah, Beulah’s high school team won the Class B State Baseball Tournament at Jack Brown Stadium in May, in the second game and were able to take a 7-6 victory thanks to a four-run 6th inning.
On Saturday, Jamestown was back to work against Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Post 14 led 3-1 heading into the 6th inning and put five more on the board for a little breathing room. They went on for an 8-1 win.
With that win Jamestown punched their ticket to the Championship game, although they did have to play the Fargo Metros first. Brady Anderson gave up five runs on the mound but the offense did enough for a 9-5 win. Post 14 again put up some runs late with four in the 5th and two in the 6th.
In the title game, Jamestown was faced with a rematch against Saskatoon. Gengler worked the bump and picked up his second win of the tournament, throwing six innings and giving up three runs. Post 14 won the game 5-3.
Jamestown has improved their record to 15-9. KQDJ-AM will have two Legion broadcasts this week. On Thursday, Bismarck comes to town and then on Friday Post 14 will play Coon Rapids (MN). Both games will be streamed online at NewsDakota.com.
