JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown Police Officer Kourtney Jeffrey was introduced as the new School Resource Officer for the Jamestown Public School District.

Officer Jeffrey is originally from Williston and has been with the Jamestown Police Department for three years. She will be filling the School Resource Officer position after it was vacated due to staff shortages.

Jeffrey says she looks forward to being someone the kids can look up to and go to with concerns.

Jeffrey says she will hope to continue utilizing their text tip line for students to anonymously notify the SRO with issues.

Jamestown Public School Superintendent Dr. Rob Lech says he and High School Principal Adam Gehlhar were both part of the interview process and were impressed with Officer Jeffery’s foundations with the students already.

Dr. Lech says they’re glad the department and community could provide an officer for the position and looks forward to her service to the school district.
