CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Warding off a preemptive strike by Tobacco companies to water down a state wide smoking ban if it passes in November is a concern for a local smoke-free advocate.
Barnes County Tobacco Prevention Coordinator Vicki Rosenau reminded elected officials about the importance of retaining local control of a resolution passed 10 years ago.
Rosenau will encourage the city commission to renew their Local Control & Smoke Free Resolution during Monday’s regular meeting. North Dakota residents will vote up or down on a statewide smoking ban on Nov. 6.
Rosenau presented her views to the Valley City commission and the Barnes County board of commissioners during their regular meetings in September.
