(NewsDakota.com)  The Griggs Barnes County Titans traveled to Fargo last night (Oct. 16th) for their last game of the season against the Fargo Shanley Deacons in Class AA East Region action.  Fargo Shanley defeated the Titans 42-6.  GBC drops to 1-8 overall, 1-6 in the AA East, their only win of the season coming against Kindred.  The Deacons improve to 7-2 overall, 6-1 in the AA East.  With the win, Fargo Shanley clinched the number one seed in the East Region and home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

The Deacons scored twice in the first quarter, at the 7:32 mark, it was Junior QB Chase Montplaisir throwing to Dan Arnold for a 60 yard touchdown pass making it 7-0.  Then about three minutes later, it was the exact same combo, Montplaisir to Arnold this time from 62 yards out making it 13-0 Deacons.

In the second quarter, there were four touchdowns scored, three by the Deacons.  The Titans got on the board right at the start of the second quarter, Sophomore QB Timmy Erker threw a middle screen pass to Senior Wide Receiver Jacoby Kramlich for a 25 yard touchdown reception.  Then it was all Deacons, Sophomore running-back Danny Stasch took it in from three-yards out on a sweep play making it 20-7 Deacons.  Then the next two plays, it was Montplaisir connecting with Danny Stasch and Kelvin Caga both from 62 yards out for the touchdown receptions, making it 34-7 Fargo Shanley.

The Deacons would score twice in the third quarter as well, both on running plays.  Zach Bird took it in from a yard out with 8:22 left in the third.  Peter Simon got into the action to, scoring from 22-yards out making it 47-7.

The Titans would get one last score with about four minutes left in the game, Senior Pete Fehr would take it in from four yards out, the Titans went for two making it 47-15.

The Deacons Quarterback Chase Montplaisir threw for 276 yards with four touchdowns. 

Senior Offensive Linemen Trevor Anderson for the Titans had to go to the sideline with an injury and didn’t return to the game.

Of course it was that last night for the GBC Seniors, Head Coach Davey Zinke said on the pregame show on The Raven, that he is grateful for their hard work and dedication this year and said that they just didn’t give up, they just kept on fighting until the very end of the season.

Next year Griggs Barnes County will pick up the Pingree-Buchanan-Kensal Coop and will be moving to Class AA West.
