CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) District 24 legislative candidates agreed on one issue the passage of Measure number 4. Three Republicans and 3 Democrats agreed to support the initiated measure on the November 6 ballot. If passed it would ban smoking in public places across the state.
L to R Democrat Larry Robinson Valley City said his record speaks for itself, he has been successful working with Democrats and Republicans in his 20 plus years as a state senator. While Republican Keith Hovland Valley City made the case to send all 3 District 24 Republican candidates to Bismarck to work with the majority party during the upcoming legislative session.
L to R District 24 Democrat candidate Naomi Muscha of Enderlin and Republican candidate Dwight Kiefert of rural Valley City answer questions during the 2 hour forum. Both are running for state Representative in the November 6 election.
On Measure 5 the initiated measure that would make the cruel abuse of cats, dogs and horses a class C felony 5 candidates, Democrats Larry Robinson, Naomi Muscha and Republicans Dwight Keifert, Keith Hovland and Myrene Peterson supported a no vote on the measure citing vague language in it and the support by the Humane Society of the U-S which doesn’t support animal agriculture.
L to R Democrat candidate Sharon Buhr Valley City and Republican Myrene Peterson Enderlin discussed their differences on the direction of K-12 education in the state. Both are running for state Representative. Two seats are up for grabs after Ralph Metcalf and Phil Mueller announced their retirements earlier this year.
Democrat candidate Sharon Buhr supported the passage of measure 5 saying that there’s specific language in the measure that excludes a threat to animal agriculture in the state.
Barnes County commissioners Cindy Schwehr and Jon Froehlich are running unopposed in the November 6 election for another 4 year term.
