JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown Tourism Executive Director Searle Swedlund tendered his resignation to the Tourism Board of Directors during a special meeting Wednesday, Aug. 3.
Swedlund was hired as the Executive Director in January 2013.
“When I arrived in Jamestown, it was the giants of this community that showed me great hospitality and welcomed me into its ranks,” Swedlund stated in his resignation. “Over these past 10 years, I’ve witnessed time and again how this place works together to create new opportunities for visitors and I’ll miss not being part of that process.”
The board met in a special meeting to discuss and approve the job position and appoint a search committee. Swedlund added he would be open to contractual work while the organization transitions into new leadership.
“I want to thank all involved with Jamestown and tourism for the trust and confidence they provided,” Swedlund added. “It has been an honor to serve in this role.”
Swedlund says he will work for economic development at the Upper Minnesota Valley Regional Development Commission in Morris, Minn.
The board unanimously accepted Swedlund’s resignation. Discussion was also held regarding new board members as current President Paulette Ritter and Frank Balak reach the end of their terms in December.
