JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – It’s been five years since the completion of the Two Rivers Activity Center (TRAC).
On September 5, 2017, the $28.6 million dollar facility opened their doors for the first time. Parks & Rec Director Amy Walters was the former TRAC Facilities Manager at that time.
Today, the facility has not only become a workout site, but a meeting place for children and adults alike. Walters says that was one of their goals when they first started planning for the project.
Since then, the facility has continued to expand and fundraise for future projects. The addition of the Meidinger Splash Park in 2021 was one of the many things Parks & Recreation hoped to grow into.
Some who have been members of TRAC since it first opened were also excited about the five year celebration. Judy Lonnberg first moved to Jamestown six years ago to be closer to her grandchildren.
Jamestown Parks & Recreation Board President Mindi Schmitz was part of the planning committee for years prior to the design and construction of TRAC.
Schmitz says the facility has been used as a hiring tool for area employers as well.
