VALLEY CITY, ND  (NewsDakota.com)  Valley City will be hosting a shootout of some high-end teams in the newly-formed middle division of basketball next season.

Valley City High School Athletic Director Rob Hunt reports that the 23-24 basketball scheduling for the Hi-Liners has been completed.  The schedule took shape in just a few weeks after a February 8th NDHSAA board meeting that reformed basketball competition into three divisions.

Valley City is in a region that will include regular opponents Wahpeton, Central Cass, Kindred, Fargo Oak Grove, and Northern Cass.  The number of regional opponents is reduced to five from the current 11 that Valley City must play in the Eastern Dakota Conference.

The Hi-Liners took full advantage of the new flexibility.

Valley City will host a three-day shootout featuring current Class B heavyweights Four Winds, Bismarck Shiloh Christian, Central Cass and Kindred, along with Turtle Mountain, Bottineau, and Killdeer.

The Hi-Liners will also participate in the Barnes County basketball tournaments, and will face Rugby, Stanley, Devils Lake, Killdeer, Beulah and Hillsboro-Central Valley on the boys side, and Devils Lake, Carrington, Shiloh Christian, Watford City, and Beulah on the girls side.
