(NewsDakota.com) The Oakes High School wrestling and girls basketball teams were in action over the weekend.
The wrestlers competed in the annual Linton tournament, and finished second with a team total of 194 points. South Border was first with 263 points. Carrington was third at 185 points, followed by Linton-HMB (151) and Hettinger (126).
The girls basketball team did not have so much good fortune, as they started the year on Friday night and lost to the Central Cass Squirrels 66-38.
The wrestlers are off until 2013, whereas the girls will be in action twice this week along with the boys team. A doubleheader versus Britton-Hecla South Dakota is set for Tuesday night starting around 5 p.m., and another doubleheader at Ellendale is planned for Friday night. Coverage of both doubleheaders can be heard on KDDR 1220 AM/95.9 FM and NewsDakota.com
